Design Brief for 2007 AFP Conference Website

Introduction:

The purpose of this design brief is to assist with engaging the services of a graphic designer for the development of a dedicated website for the 2007 AFP International Conference to be held from 19-21 November 2007.

The following specifications are provided to assist with that process.

Website target audience:

 AFP delegates and staff

 International and domestic law enforcement delegates

Visual Design and branding:
 A futuristic and highly engaging design which promotes the AFP and the key conference themes of the “future” in 2020
 Use of strong imagery that promotes the AFP, the work it does, and its environment
 Use of strong imagery that promotes the Canberra region and Australia
 A rich colour palette utilising – but not limited to - colours from the AFP Branding Guidelines
 Less of a structured bureaucratic feel, and more of a contemporary, dynamic, customised feel
 The Conference brandmark should be prominent on all pages
 The AFP logo should be present but less dominant than the Conference brandmark

Technical:
 Target screen resolution = 800x600 and above resolutions
 Target browsers = IE5-7, Netscape 7+, Firefox
 Site must be developed using static HTML and CSS
 Compliant with W3C Accessibility Guidelines to at least Priority 1 level - and as many Priority 2 and Priority 3 indicators as possible
 Mindful of current User-Centred Design principles

Site construction and handover:

 The site will be a stand-a-lone website hosted on the AFP server
 Site to be supplied via ZIP file (emailed or FTP’d) as a static HTML/CSS site

2007 AFP Conference Website – Content Structure

(as at 21 May 2007)

- Welcome

- The Conference

- Program

- Speakers

- Conference Advisory Board

- Registration

- Venue

- Accommodation

- Social Program

- Practical Information

- Contact

PLEASE NOTE:

 We currently have content ready for most of these sections. The structure is fairly flat.

 The current site structure comprises approximately 11 webpages.

 The design needs to be practical and flexible enough for the client to add/delete sections as required in a HTML authoring tool such as Dreamweaver CS.

 All content pages should have the capacity to hold additional photos/imagery to support the content. This will also need to be easy for the client to change in a HTML editor such as Dreamweaver CS.

- For example, under “Venue”, “Accommodation” and “Practical Information” there will certainly be a need to show additional photos to support the text.

 The “Speaker’s Profiles” and “Conference Advisory Board” pages will have thumbnail photos of each speaker alongside their name and position. For the Conference Advisory Board, this information will then link to their existing bio pages on the AFP website.
